Palace remain interested in Toulouse defender Cresswell

Latest from Your Site News' Lyall Thomas and Amar Mehta:

Crystal Palace are another club to have carried their January interest in Toulouse defender Charlie Cresswell into this summer.

The South London club have had an enquiry from Chelsea for Maxence Lacroix and may therefore need to sign at least one new centre-back.

Palace never actually replaced Marc Guehi when he joined Manchester City in January.

Ex-Leeds and Millwall defender Cresswell is believed to remain high on Palaces list of target centre-backs.

They are also understood to have an interest in Lens midfielder Mamadou Sangare, who worked there with new head coach Pierre Sage.

Palace are also understood to be monitoring Harvey Elliotts situation at Liverpool

Elliott will be given the chance to stake his claim in the Liverpool squad under new head coach Andoni Iraola.

PSG's Barcola among Liverpool's Diomande alternatives

Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola features highly among the options Liverpool are considering as an alternative to their top winger target Yan Diomande

PSG are negotiating Diomandes transfer with RB Leipzig after he indicated his preference to join the French and European champions.

Diomande has been Liverpools top target, but they have not been prepared to meet Leipzigs valuation.

The German club want significantly more than the 86m Liverpool were willing to pay.

Liverpool have already signed winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna and are now exploring their options as they execute their plans to replace Mohamed Salah

Barcolas future at PSG is uncertain due to his frustrations about being overlooked for selection in the big games namely the Champions League final win against Arsenal.

Your Site News reported earlier this month that Barcola could leave PSG this summer if he is still unhappy about his situation when he returns from the World Cup with France.

PSG ideally want to keep hold of the 23-year-old but will not stand in his way if he wishes to move on and a club meets their valuation. The Ligue 1 club will not let him go on the cheap.

Barcola has two years left on his contract, which makes this the ideal time for PSG to cash in on the player if he refuses to extend his deal.

Arsenal have also been keeping an eye on Barcola, but as it stands, their priority for the left-wing position appears to be Morgan Rogers at Aston Villa.

Clarke says it was time to step away from Scotland job

Steve Clarke said it was a straightforward decision to step down from his role as Scotland head coach because he always planned to depart if the World Cup did not go to plan.

The shock announcement came exactly a month after he signed a new four-year contract that would have incorporated Euro 2028 and the 2030 World Cup.

In a Scottish Football Association interview, he said: Listen, what I wanted to make sure was that when I felt it was time to step away, it was time to step away.

Signing the contract before (the World Cup) was a case of trying to give a little bit of comfort to the players knowing that we could continue the journey.

I always had in my head that if we didnt come out of the group, which is something that weve tried to do across three tournaments now, I always had in my head that if that didnt happen then it was probably the right time to step away.

Obviously if wed managed to get that extra point and got out of the group then Id probably have stayed on and tried to do another tournament.

Asked if it was an easy decision, Clarke said: Yeah, in some respects it was easy because I already had in my head what I wanted to achieve as a head coach. Id also ticked all the boxes.

I wanted to go to a major tournament with my country. I did that with the Euros. The first Euros (in 2021) was a little bit not the Euros because it was Covid affected.

The second Euros was great. The tournament didnt go as we wanted but getting to Germany was fantastic. My lifelong ambition was to do a World Cup with my country. Ive done that, so not a bad time to step aside.

Rangers sign ex-Everton defender Godfrey on loan from Atalanta

Rangers have signed ex-Everton defender Ben Godfrey from Atalanta on a season-long loan, with an option to make the deal permanent next summer.

Your Site News revealed on Sunday that the 28-year-old had completed a Rangers medical ahead of his move from the Serie A side.

Godfrey becomes Rangers' third summer signing after the arrivals of Lawrence Shankland and Ross McCrorie.

On signing for Rangers, Godfrey said: I am buzzing, I am really happy to be here. I know the size of the club, so it is a massive honour to be wearing the shirt this season, and I cant wait to get started.

I am looking forward to meeting the boys and hopefully helping this club achieve what it deserves, which is silverware and exciting times.

Gers boss Derek McInnes said: Ben is a player who has competed at a very high level throughout his career. Hes played in the Premier League, been involved with England, and brings a lot of experience with him.

Hes a strong, athletic defender with good qualities both on and off the ball, and we believe he can add a lot to the squad. Were pleased to get him in, and Im looking forward to working with him in the season ahead.

Hull have 17.3m bid rejected for Toulouse striker Emersonn

Latest from Your Site News' Lyall Thomas:

Newly-promoted Premier League club Hull City have seen a 17.3m bid for Toulouse striker Emersonn rejected.

The offer was believed to be worth an initial 15.1m (17.5m) plus 2.2m (2.5m) in add-ons.

Hull are considering their next move, but Toulouses expectations are much higher.

They are also not the only Premier League club interested in Emersonn.

The 21-year-old scored eight goals in 34 appearances in all competitions last season, and assisted another three.

He was a Brazil international at youth level and signed for Toulouse from Turkish side Goztepe a year ago.

Ex-Man Utd star Mata becomes shareholder in A-League club

Former Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has agreed to become a shareholder in Australian club, Melbourne Victory

The 38-year-old former Spain international has also committed to taking up an off-field role when he decides to retire.

Mata joined Victory in 2025 after spells at Galatasaray and in Japan following his departure from Old Trafford.

The World Cup winner has enjoyed a renaissance down under, with 13 assists and five goals earning him the Victory player of the season and being named the A-League's John Warren medallist, an award that rewards the competition's best player.

Mata's ownership commitments to the club will be separate to that of him as a Victory player.

Speaking to the club's official channels, Mata said: Everything fell into place between the club and me since day one and I have enjoyed my time here so much so far. Its as simple as that. I knew the history and the trophies before I arrived, but living it is different. The passion here is real, and so is the ambition.

Ive seen Australian football from the inside now, and I believe in the potential of the A-Leagues. Thats why Im keen to be involved in what I believe will be the progression of the game in the country.

'Ipswich keen on Lille defender Alexsandro'

Ipswich Town have made an  initial approach to sign Brazilian defender Alexsandro from Lille, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Ex-Spurs forward Kolo Muani to return to Juve?

Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani, who spent last season on loan at Tottenham, could be set for a return to Juventus, according to Fabrizio Romano.

It is claimed that the France international wants to rejoin the Serie A side after a disappointing loan spell at Spurs.

Juve and PSG have reportedly started talks over a deal, with the Italian side having already agreed personal terms with the 27-year-old.

PSG in talks over Leipzig's Diomande

Latest from Your Site News' Amar Mehta and Philipp Hinze:

Paris Saint-Germain are in talks with RB Leipzig over a move for Liverpool target Yan Diomande.

Your Site News understands the teenager has indicated a preference to join the European and French champions.

Liverpool had been willing to pay 86m, but Leipzig want significantly more.

Liverpool have been reluctant to go any higher than that, which appears to give PSG a clear run at the winger.

So far, PSG and Leipzig have not reached an agreement but negotiations are ongoing. The French club have a contract agreed with Diomande until 2031.

Irrespective of the players preference, a deal must be struck with Leipzig for the transfer to proceed.

Man City have also been monitoring the situation.
